KAILUA-KONA — A high surf advisory remains posted Tuesday for north- and west-facing shores of the Big Island.

Honolulu-based National Weather Service forecasters said a very large northwest expected to peak Tuesday continues with only gradual lowering in wave heights Tuesday. The advisory remains posted through 6 p.m.

Wave heights of 15 to 20 feet are forecast along exposed north-facing shores while 6- to 10-foot waves are predicted to impact exposed west-facing shores of the Big Island’s northern, eastern and Kona coasts, forecasters said.
